Geography
Indonesia is an archipelago in Southeast Asia consisting of 17,000 islands on the equator. Indonesia has the largest number of active volcanoes in the world and earthquakes are recurrent. The two neighboring countries are Malaysia is to the northwest and Papua New Guinea to the east. The capital and largest city is Jakarta, on Java
Climate
Indonesia has a tropical climate. The climate is mostly dominated by the monsoon which brings in heavy rains. The best time to travel is during dry season which is between April and October.
Languages
Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) is the national and official language of Indonesia. Indonesian is a modified form of the Malay language. English, Dutch and other local dialects are also widely spoken.
Religion
Indonesia has the largest Muslim population (about 89 percent) in the world.
